Doterra’s amazing range of skin and hair care products.
Extra special attention is given in the development of every doTERRA personal care product. When it comes to their aroma, it probably already makes sense to you that essential oils will be used. Additionally, the essential oils have many other topical health benefits aside from aroma. But, what about all the other ingredients? doTERRA strives for both quality and purity when it comes to selecting these, too. But, rather than simply tell you this and expect you to believe it, we want to show you. Natural Deodorant with doTERRA Balance® What we don’t use: Aluminum Salts. A common ingredient in antiperspirants, aluminum salt is the ingredient used to block your pores from sweating. While more research is needed, aluminum may be linked to a variety of health concerns. But, even if this isn’t the case, we don’t really love the idea of clogging your pores and preventing them from doing their job. Ingredients doTERRA Uses
Arrowroot Powder. Used as an absorbant, arrowroot will help your underarms feel less wet, something that other deodorants can fall short on. Arrowroot will not clog your pores.
Stearyl Alcohol. Obtained from plant sources, stearyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol. Different from drying alcohols like isopropyl alcohol, fatty alcohols are non-irritating and beneficial for the skin. It works in our deodorant as a stabilizer to prevent any separation or change to the deodorant over time.
Sodium Bicarbonate. Look in anyone’s pantry, and you’ll find baking soda. Beyond your kitchen, it’s a mineral used for its deodorizing power. Odor does not come from the sweat itself, it comes from the combination of sweat and bacteria present on your skin. Baking soda helps to neutralize and prevent these odors.
Coconut oil. Also identified as an “occlusive,” coconut oil helps prevent or slow water loss, thereby maintaining moisture in the skin.
doTERRA® SPA Refreshing Body Wash What we don’t use: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES). Both are used in body washes because they make the product lather or foam. The downside? They are also harsh chemicals that are irritating to the skin. Ingredients doTERRA Uses
Cocamidopropyl Betaine. While the name sounds complicated, cocamidopropyl betaine is derived from natural sugars found in beets and natural fats like coconut oil. It is used as a sulfate-free cleanser that is gentle on your skin.
Citric Acid. Produced by fermentation, citric acid is used to keep the Body Wash in a safe pH range.
Potassium Sorbate. We include this ingredient as a preservative to keep the Body Wash free of contamination throughout its shelf life. Using the best of both science and nature, our potassium sorbate is a “nature identical” (the form that can be found in nature).
See All Ingredients doTERRA® SPA Exfoliating Body Scrub What we don’t use: Artificial fragrance. doTERRA products rely on essential oils to lend their aromas to the personal care products we produce. Commercially, artificial fragrances are usually cheaper to use, and therefore more common. Ingredients doTERRA Uses
Grapefruit, Wild Orange, and Ginger essential oils. While Grapefruit is most prominent, each of these three essential oils give the Body Scrub its appealing unique scent.
Aleurites monluccanus Seed Oil. From the Kukui Seed or candlenut, this adds a lightly moisturizing quality to the Body Scrub. In fact, our scrub uses a wide range of moisturizing plant oils as skin conditioners, moisturizers, and antioxidants in this formulation, including coconut oil, soybean oil, sunflower seed oil, sweet almond oil, and macadamia seed oil.
Sucrose. From sugar cane, sucrose is a gentle exfoliator with humectant properties, which means it helps attract water to the skin to help moisturize.
doTERRA® SPA Hand & Body Lotion What we don’t use: Parabens and Butylated Hydroxytolene (BHT). Meant to prevent mold and bacteria from growing, parabens have been shown to be hormone disruptors. BHT is similarly used to extend the shelf-life of the product, but it also may be a hormone disrupter.
Ingredients doTERRA Uses
Benzyl Alcohol. Lotion still needs preservatives to extend shelf life, and in the Hand & Body Lotion, Benzyl Alcohol does the job. Benzyl Alcohol is derived from Cassia oil and is very effective at small levels.
Sunflower Seed Oil. While the list of skin conditioners included in the Hand & Body Lotion is long, each is needed for their specific moisturizing benefits. As an example, sunflower seed is a lightly moisturizing plant oil.
Squalene. Naturally found in the skin, squalene has great moisturizing abilities. Our squalene is derived from olives, not from animal sources.
Hydrating Body Mist What we don’t use: Propylene glycol. Commonly used as a skin conditioning or hydrating agent, propylene glycol is also a potential skin irritant. Ingredients doTERRA Uses
Octyldodecanol and Coco-Caprylate. Both emollients from plant sources; emollients serve the triple purpose of slowing water loss, enhancing the skin’s surface capacity to hold water, and acting as a lubricant to reduce friction when anything rubs the skin.
Natural Tocopherol. An amazing antioxidant to prevent free-radical damage to your skin, this is natural Vitamin E.
